2015 Zappi’s Gran Fondo Routes Finalised!
Here for your delectation and selection are the routes for this year’s Gran Fondo.
We know its rather late in the year this year, but hey, what else is all your current training building up for? These routes will check whether all those summer miles you’re currently storing have remained safely in the legs. If you’ve not been motivated to go farther, or push harder, than you ever have before this year, this year’s Fondo is a great late season goal for you.
This year we have 3 rides leaving from Kirtlington Polo Club:
The Piccolo Fondo, at 35 miles this is our shortest route, and ideal for newcomers to cycling, families and those wishing to take it easy: this route still takes in the glorious Evenlode Valley, which you will have to climb out of to get home!
The Medio Fondo, at 65 miles, chases the Gran to the top of the Cotswolds and then cuts across the very lumpy heart of our local AOONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in case you’re wondering), right past the Rollright Stones. With 3700 feet of climbing it should keep the legs warm.
The Gran Fondo, the big daddy of them all is our iconic route. 115 miles with the sweeping climb of Fish Hill taking center-stage. There’ll be some new roads and a different feel on our loop out into the Warwickshire countryside. However, we’re serving up over 7000 feet of climbing to be ridden. Complete that and you’ll definitely be allowed to eat whatever you want when you’ve finished!
We’ll top and tail these with the usual spirit of the Zappi familiga feel. There will be decent coffee before and awesome pizza after, and much more available after the ride.
